We don’t row, we paddle - Welcome to BWB Dragons!
Nestled in the heart of Blackwattle Bay near the Sydney Fish Markets, Blackwattle Bay Dragon Boat Club (BWB Dragons) is more than just a paddling club - it’s a legacy of excellence, teamwork, and unshakable spirit.
Founded in 2006, BWB Dragons gave the Sydney Junior Dragon Boat Team a home, and they made waves fast! In 2007, our Junior Team clinched silver and bronze at the Australian National Championships, while the BWB Submarines Junior Women’s Crew proudly represented Australia at the 8th IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championship, taking home two silver medals. As our juniors grew, so did we. In 2010, BWB Dragons expanded to welcome Premiers and Seniors, forging a powerhouse team across all levels.
Today, BWB Dragons is driven by passion, precision, and perseverance, guided by our mission:
"BWB Dragons unites dedicated paddlers striving for excellence. Through teamwork and resilience, we foster strength in mind and body, empowering members to grow and reach their full potential."
But we’re not just about race day. We train on and off the water in building strength, skill, and lasting friendships. Our winters are spent preparing for international regatta trips, a combined team of BWB and fellow dragon boating friends.
At the helm is Head Coach Sylvia Wong, a veteran of the sport since 1995. With experience spanning national and international campaigns - as a paddler, steer, team manager, and coach - Sylvia brings wisdom, strategy, and unwavering motivation to training sessions. She is backed by a dedicated coaching team, committee and committed crew, ensuring that every member feels supported.
Whether you're a seasoned paddler or new to the sport, BWB Dragons welcomes you to be part of something bigger - something powerful, united, and unstoppable.
