
On Sun 3rd July, Blackwattle Bay Dragon Boat (BWB) cancelled their usual water training session and headed off to Ashfield Bunnings to hold a fundraising BBQ. The day started early with the morning crew arriving at 8:00am. To our surprise, a few helpers were already there getting things ready! It was great to see a bunch of keen and enthusiastic members in our club! We had divided our helpers into 2 groups, one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. At the end of the day, the Club managed to sell OVER 800 sausages!!! Thank you to everyone's support, and WELL DONE to everyone!!!
Blackwattle Bay (BWB) had their very first Annual General Meeting (AGM) and End of Season (EOS) Presentation Dinner at The Kirk on Harris on 22 May. We had almost a full house for the gathering. Angeline, BWB club secretary who was on maternity leave, attend with her new born baby boy, Dean.
The evening commmenced with the AGM where Coach Sylvia presented the season's race results and Club Treasurer Hubert gave an overview of the current financial position and the proposed budget for the 2011-12 season. President Belinda gave a wrap up of the season thanking the committee for their hard work for the season and special thank you mentions to Simon Wong and Andrew Murphy for their contribution to our corporate crew training and sweeping througout the season.

Blackwattle Bay (BWB) competed in their first Australian Championship which was held at Lake Burleigh Griffin, Canberra on 2-3 April 2011. BWB put on an impressive performance over the weekend in the 10s races over the 200m and 500m distances.
The team celebrated their achievements with a team dinner at a local Italian resturant.
BWB trains hard, races hard, but also plays hard. Other than racing in Canberra, the team also took in the sights and local attractions around the nation's capital - Questacon and the National War Memorial.
A special mention to our Coach Sylvia and team members Caitlin and Leida representing the NSW State Team. The NSW State Team retained the State v State Cup with Caitlin winning Gold as part of the Junior Women A team.
A big thank you to all of BWB's supporters, families and friends, in particular the parents who gave up their precious weekends to drive the juniors all the way to Canberra.
