Blackwattle Bay Dragon Boat Club (BWB) was established in 2006 to give the Sydney Junior Dragon Boat Team a home. In the 2007, Blackwattle Bay Submarines Junior Team (BWB Subs) competed at the Australian National Championships and returned home with a silver and bronze medal in the junior women and mixed categories respectively.
The BWB Subs Junior Womens Crew went on to represent Australia as the National Junior Womens B Team at the 9th IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championship in 2007. The team raced against some tough competition against Canada, Australia A, Germany and scored two silver medals in the 500m & 200m distances.
BWB is looking to expand its horizons into other age categories to include Premier (18+) and Masters (40+).

Sylvia "Wongy" has been involved in Dragon Boat Racing since 1995. Her involvement in various National and International Campaigns in many different capacities: Paddler, Sweep, Team Manager and coach.
Her achievements as coach include 5 Bronze medals (Premier Mixed, Opens and Womens categories) at the 2006 Asian Championship in Macau and two silver medals for the Junior Women Categories in 9th World Dragon Boat Racing Championship, Sydney, 2007.
In 2010, Sylvia was appointed the Head Coach of the NSW Dragon Boat State Team overseeing a team of divisional coaches and paddlers from junior to grand dragon level.
Other than coaching, Sylvia continues her passion for the sport as a Level 2 International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) Official and Ordinary Director of Dragon Boats NSW, the sport's governing body in NSW.
